Setup Other Email Clients

  • Configuration of G Suite (Google Apps Account) in a Mac Mail Client (Recommended setup)

  • Apple Mail or Outlook for Mac does not Support the Google Apps Sync Tool. You can however get the Emails, Contacts and Calendar Synchronized using individual configurations. To know more about other configurations of G Suite  with the MacBook, please refer to the below link,

    Email Configuration - Apple Mail

    You may follow the below to find the configurations for IMAP for Apple Mail,
    You can configure mail, contacts, and calendar to sync at the same time using Apple's Mail.
    1. Open Mail.
    2. Select Google and click Continue.
    3. Enter your name, full email address, and password, and click Set Up.
    4. Select the services you'd like to sync, such as MailContacts, or Calendar, and click Done.
  • Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook® (Only for Windows PC)
G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook® allows you to use Microsoft Outlook® 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 effectively with G Suite. You get the cost savings, security and reliability of G Suite, while employees can use the interface they prefer for email, contacts, calendar and notes.

Once the GSMO Tool is installed, it creates a new Profile and the user would need to attach their older Archives (PST files) to the new profile to view the older Emails) or import old data from previous Outlook profile to Google Apps sync profile using Google Apps Migration tool

The G Suite Sync setup includes Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Outlook® to import existing data to Google.

  • Set up Gmail with Outlook, Apple Mail, or other mail clients
Using legacy Protocols helps you to download messages from Gmail and see them using a program like Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird, even when you aren't online. This process is called POP or IMAP, and is available for all Gmail users.

Tip: We recommend using IMAP if possible because it’s the best way to make sure you can see all your mail at any time on all of your devices. If you'd like to use POP instead, learn how to enable POP.

Step 1: Enable IMAP 

You can retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports IMAP, like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.

  1. Sign in to Gmail.
  2. Click the gear in the top right .
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  5. Select Enable IMAP.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Step 2: Set up your client

Use the table below to update your client with the correct information.

This method is not recommended and may cause problems in the long run. To implement this you would also need to enable Google Apps to work with Less Secure Apps.
